Day 17 The Lakes Distrcit to Glasgow

Day 17 we started in Keswick and ended in Glasgow.  We did a lovely hike up the Catbells, had a nice lake cruise on a boat built in the 1870's and then spent our first night Scotland.  Another great day on our trip!
Great breakfast again.  At breakfast we met the 2 ladies who did the crazy run swim thing yesterday

After packing everything up we were off on our hike.  The hike started really close to our B&B

And here we go!  We did the Catbell hike which was just under 4 miles with a lot of up to start.  The catbells are a string of peaks looking over Derwent Water.  The hike is very popular for a good reason

Looking toward the top

And part of the way there

As usual lots of sheep were keeping us company

And we made it to the summit.  Lincoln woke up just for this part!

View of the lake

A little bit of sun!

There was lots of this purple flower everywhere.  So much that the hills sometimes looked purple

This is how Lincoln spent most of the hike

Hiking around the other side closer to the water

At the finish there was an ice cream truck?  Strange because the roads seem a little difficult for a truck

At the end of our hike we headed back into town for some coffee and souvenir hunting before starting the direction of Glasgow

On the way though we stopped for a boat cruise on Ullswater which thankfully it wasn't raining for at least the start of the cruise

Our boat was originally built in the 1870's and has been running on this lake for something like 100 years

Great views especially during the non rainy period

Lincoln spent a lot of time down in the bar area because it kept raining.  Turns out the bartender actually had been on some sort of army exchange in Little Falls so he was excited to hear my mom was from there.

Good views even in the rain

Lincoln got worn and put in Zach's jacket so that he would take a nap (yes that works)

Good views in the sunshine at the end

Dinky on his lake

After the cruise it was finally time to leave the Lakes District and do the 2 hour drive to Glasgow

We stayed at the Hampton Inn downtown.  It was pretty nice especially since our room was huge and isolated

We went to the Butterfly and the Pig for dinner.  It was probably a little too trendy of a place for us, but they had real beer so that was exciting

Lincoln as usual needed to be entertained for dinner.  Here he is dancing to the techno music

Lincoln's face when we gave him a little of our sweet potato salad

My fish (with real vegetables finally!)

After dinner we took a very short walk to check out the architecture

Even as the sun was setting it was clear that there were lots of beautiful buildings in Glasgow

And then it was time to call it a night.  Mr. Lincoln decided to wake up after all of an hour so we had a fun night of trying to keep him asleep.  At least we had another wonderful day though!
