Day 3 Baku old town tour

Day 3 (our first non travel day) was pretty low key because we were still adjusting to the time difference and because we had to deal with a few issues.  The main tourist thing we did today was go on an old town walking tour.

The day started with Cinnabuns that Kate picked up for us.  Despite the look Lincoln was a little happier then he seemed.  He wasn't eating much yet though.

Outside view of Kate's Apartment as we left in the morning

First stop was a taxi ride to the airport.  Despite saying they were going to call us, when I called Turkish air in the morning they said they had our stroller.  They also said they don't deliver it so we had to come get it.  So we figured out how to buckle Lincoln in the best we could and took the taxify ride to the airport.

Airport terminal in the daylight.  You had to go through security just to get into the airport

Zach got cleared to go through to baggage claim and got our stroller.  Our course they had lost the cup holder attachment, so it was off to the mall to find a replacement for that and a new cup for Lincoln that was also lost with the stroller

First stop at the mall, Starbucks!

Ganjilik mall from the outside

Next stop chicco store where we found what we needed for Lincoln

Next stop was the ATM next store.  Which of course ate my card.  And it is Eid so no banks are open until Wed here.  Nobody answered the phone or other contact, so I just had to cancel my card.  Here is hoping that nothing happens to Zach's card!

Next up was a purple taxi ride back to Kate's apartment after spending nearly an hour trying to figure out how to get the card back.

So Lincoln could sleep we ordered in a kabob meal for lunch.  It was a lot of meat, but pretty good

Zach took a short nap while Lincoln napped

Next we stopped at starbucks again and then walked through old town to meet our tour.

We did the 3 pm Azerbaijan traveller tour which covered old town and the area around.  Lincoln was mostly interested during the tour

Soviet statue of poet

View of centuries of construction in Baku, 12th-21st century

Soviet monument, girls school and view of the wall

Reconstructed pretty building

Azerbaijan literature museum

We ended with some traditional Azerbaijan tea

Cool coffee shop where we had tea

Early dinner at Dolma

It was a cool underground place

We had lots of traditional Azerbaijan food.  Lincoln tried some, but was still on an eating strike

Kate had to keep him busy for a while we we finished

Restaurant

Lincoln took a nap while we walked the 30 min back to Kate's apartment

View on the way back

The day ended with a glass of Azerbaijan wine in Kate's apartment.  Hopefully tomorrow will be more tourist stuff less dealing with problems.  We are spending part of the day seeing more of Baku and then heading to the mud volcanos.
