Day 14 was all about seeing Sweden's second largest city Gothenburg. We got a gothenburg pass so we could see tons of museums which was great for Lincoln's attention span.
This is how Lincoln was when we woke up
Breakfast in the apartment
The day did not start out well. Zach went down and found a 65 dollar parking ticket. Turns out he had missed a 10 min parking sign the night before. The worst part is that paying this thing is a nightmare because they don't do online payments
First stop of the day was the Gothenburg botanical gardens which are the biggest in Northern Europe
We hiked up to the viewpoint and Lincoln loved climbing all the rocks
View of Gothenburg from the top of the hill we climbed
Lincoln in front of the waterfall in the rock garden section
Lovely orchids
Dahlia in the perennial garden
Then we drove back to the apartment and walked over to the Universarium. It is hard to see but you can see the dinosaurs on the roof of the building
Looking down at the main exhibit
Lincoln loved this stop. It is kinda a combo zoo/science museum. In particular he loved looking at the fish
Lunch was on the roof patio with the dinosaurs
Lincoln loved seeing the moving dinosaurs
Walking in the forsest exhibit
In the health section Lincoln got to try rock climbing
Then in the chemistry section he played with blocks
Next stop after that was the art museum. We were hoping Lincoln would sleep through it, but he didn't so we had a very short stay. We did see my favorite section on impresionist painters and the Gothenburg artists. Here is a famous Van Gogh
And a nice painting done by a Gothenburg artist
Then we walked around trying to get Lincoln asleep. This was a nice building on the main stree
Once he was asleep we enjoyed our coffee in the park while he napped
Then we visited the Gothenburg church on the way to the Gothenburg city museum
The city museum is in the old Swedish Indian Trading company building
The best exhibit was on an old viking ship they had recovered
Then we walked over to the ship museum. There were 18 different ships that you could walk on
Lincoln actually liked his life jacket
Lincoln with a view back toward Gothenburg
After the boats we walked over to the Opera house to see the Jussi Bjorling plaza
On the way to our canal tour we stopped to see the statue of Gustavus Adolphus who said where to put the town
Then we were off on a 50 min canal and harbor bour
The boats are open air and barely fit below all the bridges
We saw lots of lovely buildings on the tour
Then we saw a ship that got stuck in the harbor during repairs because it no longer fit under a bridge
Old shipyard cranes. The shipyards recently closed down and they are still debating what to do with the cranes
Fish church
And finally we had dinner at a Brewers Beer place. Lots of good local beers to sample
Really got pizza. This one was pumpkin hazelnuts and blue cheese
Long walk back to the apartment past lots and lots of cool buidlings
We also found ice cream for Lincoln. For some reason he wanted this cola flavored one
It was a long exhausting but good day so after doing a load of laundry we went straight to bed!
