Day 15 of our trip was spent mostly getting between Gothenburg and Lake Siljan. We did have a few fun stops along the way to see a water bridge, ancient rock carvings and Karlstad to see a petting zoo and playground
We started the morning with breakfast in our apartment in Gothenburg. No parking tickets this morning!
On the way out we pretty much drove under this giant rollercoaster (the park was pretty close to where we were staying)
Our first stop was after a little under 2 hours at the Dalsland canal. It was a lovely day on the lake area around it
Yep that is a boat crossing a bridge. The boat bridge goes over rapids and is connected to a series of canals. There is also a railroad bridge and car bridge right there
After watching the boats get through the canal we walked to the end of the dock to see the Swedish wilderness
We had lunch at the cafe in the visitor center
Also in the visitor center there was a small glass blowing operation to watch
After that we drove about 15 more minutes to do a short hike to a lake and see some 2000 year old rock carvings. Högsbyns hällristningsområde
Close up of one ship carving. There was maybe 100 carvings over lots of rocks in the area
Lake at the end of the short walk
Lincoln finally took a 40 min nap as we came into Karlstad
At Karlstad we went to the park along the water. There we quickly visited a petting zoo
And and playground with a boat for Lincoln to drive
And of course we stopped at Espresso House for Lincoln to get his pink drink and for mom and dad to get more coffee for the still 3 hour drive to Dalarna. Also we picked up dinner since we would not be arriving until almost 9 pm
Lots of great scenery on the log drive
When we got to the lake at Rattvik there was a crazy classic car parade. We actually somehow ended up in the line of cars and got stuck for like 10 min before figuring a way out
And then we finally made it to our place along Lake Siljan. We had the bottom floor of this lovely apartment
Inside it was cute and cozy
And there was somewhat of a view of Lake Siljan
So lots of traveling, but also lots of great stops. Tomorrow we explore the lake!
